Our Weekly Favorite:
Title: Little Burro
Author/Illustrator: Jim
Arnosky
Summary:
“Little Burro’s canyon has everything she needs—it’s breezy and cool on a hot day, and warm and cozy at night. One day, her band of burros decides to travel to the lake. She does not want to go, but finally follows when her mother calls out to her. When they arrive, Little Burro is surprised to find that the lake is just as nice as her canyon—and even more fun!”
Why I Loved it:
- This story was simple and sweet.
- Donkeys are my favorite animals. I think a burro is kind of like a donkey . . . ? At least in my head it is.
- (As always) I really enjoyed the author’s note. It told how the author witnessed a baby burro playing in the water one day, and decided to write the possible story behind the moment.

I thought this book was great! I really liked how they didn't portray boaters as evil, but showed that sometimes manatees really are injured completely by accident.

This book was a little strange, but overall, pretty good.

All of the things a mother bear has to go through to get her cub to go to sleep. Very sweet! This would be a good bedtime story.
